Investigative Journal #1 – October 29, 2025 - Today I was visited by a man named Jacob Foster who claimed an antique mirror in his possession is responsible for the disappearances of five men who all happened to be from the same family. The Gentry’s arrived in Serenity, Ohio in 1834 buying up several storefronts, the First Bank of Serenity, the coal mine located deep in the foothills, and the local newspaper the Serenity Times. I found his story credible, if not a little fantastical, so I took the mirror into my possession and began to research the mirror’s history. I found a newspaper photo from 1844 of Charles Gentry receiving the mirror from one of his employees at the mine, Michael Evans. Unfortunately, I found no more information on the man who gifted the mirror to Mr. Gentry beyond the newspaper photo’s description. I wonder who and where Michael Evans came from and what happened to him as I couldn’t even find an obituary on the man. It was like he was a ghost.
